DESCRIPTION:Students entering 5th-8th grade are invited to attend our annua
 l Acolyte Training as we prepare for a new year of serving in worship.\nAn
  acolyte is a student who assists during the worship service by lighting a
 nd extinguishing the altar candles and carrying the cross on special Sunda
 ys. While these tasks are practical\, they also point us to deeper spiritu
 al truths. The lighted candles remind us that Christ is the Light of the W
 orld (John 8:12)\, and the processional cross keeps our focus on Jesus and
  His saving work as the center of our worship.\nAcolyting is much more tha
 n simply "helping out" on Sunday morning. It is an opportunity for student
 s to live out their baptismal calling by serving Christ and His Church! Th
 rough this ministry\, students learn responsibility\, reverence\, and the 
 joy of participating in God's work among His people. Serving in worship al
 so helps students grow in confidence and develop a deeper appreciation for
  the richness of our worship service.\nDuring training\, students will:\n\
 n\nLearn the responsibilities of an acolyte before\, during\, and after wo
 rship.\n\n\nPractice carrying the processional cross and lighting/extingui
 shing the altar candles.\n\n\nBecome familiar with worship etiquette and w
 hat it means to serve in their church.\n\n\nReceive information about sche
 duling and expectations for the year.\n\n\nNo prior experience is necessar
 y. We encourage all eligible students to participate as they grow in faith
  through serving God's people in worship. We look forward to welcoming thi
 s year's acolytes!
